Match & Extend Existing Wood Floors London

Extension built, wall knocked through — now the floor needs to look like it was always there.

New wood floor matched into an existing one for extensions, knock-throughs and repairs.

Matching an existing floor means getting the species, width, thickness, pattern and colour all close enough that the join disappears. We look at your current floor, find timber that matches, and lay it so the boards run through.

Often the best result comes from sanding and refinishing the old and new areas together, so the colour and sheen are the same. We'll explain where an exact match isn't possible and how we'd handle the transition.

What's included

01

Existing-floor survey

Species, board size, pattern, fixing and finish identified.

02

Timber matching

New or reclaimed boards sourced to the same dimensions and grade.

03

Weaving in

Boards toothed into the existing floor rather than butted at a straight line.

04

Pattern continuation

Herringbone and parquet continued so the pattern flows through.

05

Colour matching

Samples to match the aged colour of the existing floor.

06

Sand together

Old and new sanded and finished as one floor for a seamless result.

Questions

Asked before, answered honestly.

Will the new section match my old floor?
We can get it very close, especially if both areas are sanded and finished together. Timber that has been down for years has aged naturally, so we make samples first and tell you honestly how close it will be.
Can you extend herringbone into a new extension?
Yes. We continue the pattern from the existing floor, matching block size and direction, and blend the colour.
Free home survey

Samples in your rooms, a quote with a name on it.

Pick a time that suits. The fitter comes to you, measures, checks the subfloor and brings the samples — then you get an honest price, usually the same day. No obligation.
